Kasumi Yasukawa, a senior councilor of JOGMEC graduated from the University of Tokyo in 1987 and joined the Geological Survey of Japan (current the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST)). Having an engineering background, she has been involved in research activities of geothermal resources globally. After serving as Deputy Director of the Renewable Energy Research Center at AIST, she has been working at JOGMEC since July 2019, where she has been involved in international cooperation and promotion of geothermal resources. She served as a Board of Directors of International Geothermal Association (IGA) from 2020 to 2022 as her 3rd term in IGA Board. Since 2022, she has been serving as the Chair of International Energy Agency – Geothermal Implementation Agreement (IEA-GIA).
