Dr. György Falus is Head of the Geological Department at the Supervisory Authority for Regulatory Affairs in Hungary, where he is in charge since January 2022 of the management of the Department including general „geological survey-type” activity, i.e., geological mapping, lab analysis, monitoring networks, as well as specific projects dedicated to energy storage, geothermal energy and CRM. These activities are running both at national level and are deeply linked to on-going EU projects.
Previously, Dr Falus was head of the Hydrogeological ang Geochemical Department of the Mining and Geological Survey, Hungary (2019 – 2022) and coordinated CO2 storage research projects.
Prior to this, between 2018 and 2019 Dr. Falus was active at the Loránd Eötvös University, Budapest and the Miskolc University. He was responsible for CO2 geological storage research and applied petrophysical research at these institutions.
Previously, Dr Falus was head of the Geochemical and Laboratory Department of the Geological and Geophysical Institute of Hungary coordinated lab analytical and CRM-related activities. Dr Falus studied Geology at the Lorand Eötvös University. He did his PhD at the University of Szeged. He also studied at the Utrecht University and the University of Montpellier.
